Tuesday Practice (May 31, 2011)

Today's practice was very easy. All we worked on was freestyle and butterfly. We just did 25 meters of those for about forty five minutes. It was super easy and fun!!!! I got there a little late so I only did the last bit of the warm up. After warm up we worked on breaststroke sprints for about half an hour then, as I said before, we worked on the freestyle and butterfly 25s. after each 25 my friends and I just talked and waited for our coach to tell us when to go again so it was a very easy practice. Hopefully tomorrow's is too!!!

Silver Cup Swim Meet

This weekend was great!! I had our last swim meet of the season and I did pretty well. I didn't qualify from provincials (sadly) but I am only a 60th of a second off of the provincial qualifying time. I didn't really add any time from my old time because my old time was a few milliseconds off. I did get three ribbons. I got a 4th place ribbon in 50 meter freestyle, a 5th place ribbon in 50 meter breaststroke, and a 10th place ribbon in 50 meter butterfly. The meet was really good alltogether but right now I am super tired. At least I don't have another practice until Tuesday!!

Thursday Practice (May 26, 2011)

Today's practice was really fun. it was super easy. All we did was relays for the majority of the practice. Relays aren't that hard. All we had to was swim 25 meters to the other end then once you touch the wall the next person would go. There was alot of people so you didn't have to swim that often. we also did 400 meters freestyle kick for time AGAIN!!! We pretty much do that every day which is very irritating and not fun. My friends and I were really hyper too which made it much more fun. This was my last practice before my swim meet so wish me luck!!

Video

Here is a video of Michael Phelps swimming 400 meter Indiviual Medley at the 2004 Athens olympics. Individual Medley is where you swim each of the 4 strokes in the race. Depending on how long the race is determines how much of each of the 4 strokes you will swim. for example, if you are swimming 400 IM then you would swim 100 meters of each stroke. 100 IM would be 25 meters of each stroke and so on.

Friday Practice (May 20, 2011)

I am super sore from yesterday's practice. Friday practices are always the worst because everyone is tired and sore from the week. Jenae and I were so slow when we were getting changed and we were so lazy when we were walking onto the deck. Friday's practices are usually endurance training which means we do alot of long sets like 2 times 400 meters or something like that. yesterday we did an 800 meter freestyle for time which means that they time us but usually they just say that to make us swim faster. I didn't swim it fast at all because I was too sore. We weren't swimming it well enough at first so we had to restart but I still swam it slow. Gabby and I were very annoyed by our coaches yesterday but we got through it. Did I mention that 800 meters is 32 lenghts of the pool?? I lost track of course. It was a very terrible practice but now there is only a week until the Silver Cup swim meet!! wish me luck!!

Thursday Practice (May 19, 2011)

Yesterday's practice was super easy. We worked on butterfly alot and I think that butterfly is an easy stroke once you get the hang of it. Gabby and I were super hyper since we were eating candy before practice and we couldn't stop laughing. Our coaches weren't really paying attention to us very often so whenever we'd finish a set Jenae, Gabby, and I would start playing football with Gabby's waterbottle which was funny. Our coaches kept getting mad at us though because we didn't really listen to them or we would start complaining about something. It was a really fun and easy practice and hopefully today's will be too!!!

Wednesday Practice (May 18, 2011)

Yesterday's practice was very tiring. we did alot of sprinting sets but our coach was getting mad at us because apparently we weren't listening. Since we weren't listening, we had to do 10 times 100 meter freestyle in 2:00 for each one. If one person made a mistake on one of the 100s, then we would have another one added on to the 10. there were 5 mistakes in all but our coach was nice and didn't add any on. luckily. it was a very hard workout yesterday and now my muscles are super sore. Plus, I have to swim again today!! hopefully it's not as hard.

Tuesday Practice (May 17, 2011)

Today was an OK day at swimming. It wasn't really that hard. We worked on all of the strokes today. The thing I don't like is that we always do one of the same sets everyday!!! We do a 400 meter freestyle kick everyday and it irritates me so I don't swim as fast because I am sick of doing that set. Gabby and I raced in 50 meter freestyle a few times but she is faster than me so I got a 5 second head start and she still beat me!! We also worked on our Butterfly and Breaststroke closer to the end of practice. Afterwards I got to relax in the hot tub with my friends which was good. Altogether, it was a pretty good practice but it was tiring!!!

Introduction

This is my blog about swimming. I will be talking about the different sets I do at swimming daily and my upcoming swim meets and events. Right now I am training for my silver cup swim meet at the end of the month. I am trying to get my provincial time right now to qualify for the provincials in Fort Mcmurray at the begining of July.
